Hammam, Caldarium and Rhassoul

The benefits of the hammam for the body and health

A hammam is a steam bath where a special bathing ceremony is held and is an important part of Islamic bathing and body culture. The focus is on relaxation through steam and a following massage with soap foam. Thus, it relaxes the muscles and relieves pain and discomfort.

The first records of the Hammam massage technique date back more than 4,000 years. Its origin lies in the steam baths of the Orient, called hamams. Even then, these were considered a place for ritual washing ceremonies, purification and retreat from the stressful everyday life. It is also known under the names "Turkish Bath" or "Oriental Bath".

Rhassoul, a care ceremony from the Orient

Already the Greek physician Hippocrates knew about the special effect of healing muds and until today doctors and patients appreciate its healing effect.

Rhassoul is an oriental care ceremony with full body peeling with healing muds in combination with a steam bath and following self-oiling. Rhassoul combines the beneficial effects of water, earth and warmth with the ancient knowledge of the caring and healing power of nature.

The healing mud stimulates the metabolism, provides moisture, minerals and trace elements. It also refines the appearance of the skin and increases its elasticity. This allows the entire body to relax and regenerate.

What is a caldarium?

Caldarium comes from the Latin language and means "warm" or "hot". The caldarium was already an integral part of Roman thermal baths in ancient times.

The caldarium is a ceramic-tiled warming room with a temperature of 40-50°C. The mild radiant heat from the heated walls, benches and floor warms the entire room. Usually, caldariums also contain several pools and tubs where guests can enjoy baths in warm water. The humidity is very high and is almost 100 percent.
